True leadership starts with listening. I believe in honest conversations, intellectual integrity, and a fresh, pragmatic approach to tackling Seattle’s challenges. We need leaders who are ready to engage, collaborate, and take action for a stronger, more unified Seattle. Together, we can build a city that is safe, affordable, and thriving for everyone.

Healthy, Safe Communities

As a Seattle resident, I’ve had to call 911 for urgent incidents, like shots fired, and non-emergencies, like abandoned stolen cars. As a mom and neighbor, I want to ensure that when people call for help, we’re able to match the right response to every call. I also believe deeply that we must invest in prevention strategies including mental health services, youth jobs and engagement, and economic stability.

On the City Council, I will:

  • Advocate for smart workforce development policies that attract and retain the officers we need while advancing our 30×30 goals to increase women’s representation in law enforcement.
  • Invest in proven intervention and prevention strategies to address root causes and create long-term solutions including treatment on demand, behavioral health and crisis care, and youth development initiatives to address the underlying causes of crime and reduce recidivism.
  • Support continued investment in the city’s CARE Team, gun violence prevention programs, and community-driven solutions that make our neighborhoods safer and stronger.
  • Work to ensure that every neighbor and first responder is treated with respect and that our Seattle Police Department is both effective and accountable.
  • Support SPD to achieve constitutional and effective practices, and work in collaboration with the Seattle Community Police Commission to ensure strong partnership and oversight

Housing Options at Every Level

Finding an affordable home in Seattle is challenging—I know because I’ve lived it. As a renter, I struggled to secure housing. Later, I was able to buy my first home thanks to Seattle Downpayment Assistance. My co-parent was able to stay in the city and contribute to our vibrant arts scene thanks to subsidized artist housing. Everyone in Seattle deserves the same opportunities for affordable, stable housing at every stage of life.

As a City Councilmember, I will:

  • Prioritize getting people indoors by working with regional agencies to invest in treatment on demand, permanent supportive housing, and emergency shelter solutions like tiny homes.
  • Protect dedicated affordable housing funds, pursue Transit-Oriented Development, and enact zoning reforms that expand housing options for all income levels.
  • Ensure that comprehensive plan changes protect targeted “neighborhood centers” to improve livability and provide multi-family housing options throughout the city, so young families can sink roots in Seattle, seniors can age in place, and workers can live in the communities where they earn a living.
  • Promote home ownership opportunities for populations historically denied access to generational wealth through exclusionary zoning, denial of access to capital, and racist housing policies.
  • Implement anti-diplacement strategies that safeguard diverse neighborhoods, and support community-led development programs that provide affordability and stability.
  • Support statewide rent stabilization and tenant protections to ensure a level playing field and provide safe, affordable housing for all renters in Seattle.

Climate Resilience

I’m proud of the role I’ve played in helping craft some of Seattle’s climate policies and defending our State’s Climate Commitment Act. We have a strong partner in the State of Washington, but we need to locally address the next steps in protecting our health and climate in the face of federal rollbacks. I’ll bring both experience and urgency to this discussion to ensure that we not only do our part, but lead on these issues.

On our City Council, I will:

  • Ensure equitable energy access by partnering at the state level to maintain affordable energy prices, promote the equitable distribution of solar infrastructure, and hold utilities accountable for fair pricing and clean energy transitions.
  • Strengthen climate resilience by preparing our communities for extreme weather events, improving infrastructure to prevent flooding, and ensuring frontline communities have the resources they need to stay safe.
  • Promote sustainable transportation by reducing car emissions, improving public transit, expanding bike lanes, and making it easier for people to choose greener ways to get around.

Workforce Protection

I know firsthand how hard people in our city work to make ends meet. My mom, a teacher, worked tirelessly to provide for our family, and I took on multiple jobs in high school to help pay the bills. As a restaurant worker in Seattle, I relied on affordable healthcare programs like Apple Health to care for my son. I believe that no one should have to struggle just to get by, and every worker deserves dignity, fair wages, and safe conditions.

That’s why I will:

  • Support unionization efforts by advocating for workers’ rights to organize and collectively bargain, because strong unions lead to better wages, benefits, and job security.
  • Enhance workplace protections by collaborating with labor organizations to ensure safe, fair, and equitable working conditions across all industries.
  • Promote career advancement by investing in workforce development programs that provide training and opportunities for career growth, ensuring workers can adapt and thrive in a changing economy.
  • Protect gig and contract workers by pushing for policies that guarantee fair pay, benefits, and protections for those in non-traditional employment arrangements.
  • Defend against federal attacks on our rights by ensuring our Office of Labor Standards has the resources it needs.

Thriving Communities

Seattle’s unique character is built on our small businesses, green spaces, and vibrant arts and culture scene. We must protect and support these pillars of our city.

As a City Councilmember, I will:

  • Support Small Businesses: I fell in love with Seattle because of its small businesses—the locally owned coffee shops, neighborhood comic book stores, and independent art galleries that make each neighborhood unique. I will work to cut red tape, expand funding opportunities, and create policies that help small businesses thrive.
  • Invest in Parks and Public Spaces: Access to quality parks and public spaces enhances our quality of life. I support expanding and maintaining our parks, ensuring clean and safe recreational areas, and investing in public amenities that bring our communities together.
  • Celebrate Arts & Culture: Seattle’s arts and cultural institutions are vital to our identity and economy. I will champion policies that provide direct support to artists, protect cultural spaces, and ensure Seattle remains a hub for creativity and innovation.
